Department of Rural Development and Vocational Education (DRDVE)
Established in 2005 under the financial assistance of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as the Georgian Rural Development Program (GRDP) and later – in 2016 supported by the Millennium Challenge Account – Georgia (MCA-Georgia) to provide vocational education it was rebranded based on its fields of activity in rural development and vocational education.
For 18 years now, DRDVE has been successfully implementing donor-funded projects in the field of agriculture, rural and socio-economic development. It remains one of the key actors contributing to the Goals of Sustainable Development through promoting public-private partnership, institutional development, local economic growth, education, environment, modern technologies and innovations.
DRDVE, with the grant financial support, independently or in tandem with local, national and international organisations/experts successfully implements programmatic interventions for and with the involvement of civil, private and public sector representatives on the national, regional and community levels. Activities include technical and subgrant support, capacity-building and skills development, through developing innovative and tailor-made educational programs, modern teaching practices, training and expert-level consultancy, applied research and experience sharing of best practices. Also, DRDVE implements contractual projects for national and international organisations, which include consultancy, research, awareness raising, capacity building, project MEL, outreach, events organisation, workshops, conferences, etc. Since February 2018, DRDVE offers Level-V Vocational Education Program and certified training courses in Occupational Safety and Environmental Technologies.
